The latest version of Discoverant includes enhancements to analytics, reporting, and security; the company says these improvements can help drug manufacturers boost process predictability and quality.
Manufacturing intelligence provider Aegis Analytical Corp. has released the latest version of Discoverant, its enterprise manufacturing and process intelligence application for the life sciences industry.
According to the company, Discoverant version 4.1 integrates analytics with a data modeling technology to provide real-time, on-demand data access, analysis, and reporting of manufacturing and process development data.
The new version includes upgrades to all of the Discoverant modules, the company said, to improve process predictability, quality, yield, and operational excellence for its customers.
Discoverant is used by global drug manufacturers such as Abbott, AstraZeneca, Baxter, Biogen Idec, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly, Genzyme, Human Genome Sciences, and Merck Serono, as well as contract manufacturers such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Shire.
Some of the key functionality enhancements to Discoverant include the ability to combine two analysis groups into one for easier site-to-site and product-to-product comparisons; easier identification of critical and controllable process parameters and quality attributes; and category shading in control charts that enhance statistical process control (SPC) analysis by highlighting, for example, data by site, quarter, and raw material.
In addition, Discoverant 4.1 offers data-driven query pathways for better data retrieval from multiple data sources, Aegis said, and a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that can be configured to secure data transfer within browser-based tools.
The upgrades to the manufacturing intelligence application are a direct response to new customer requirements and requests, the company said.
"Input from our global life sciences customers provides us with an industry-wide perspective on the priorities for the enhancements of Discoverant," said Aegis president and CEO Robert Di Scipio in a statement. "Version 4.1 provides the industry's most sophisticated manufacturing data aggregation, contextualization, and analysis tools for both captive and contract manufacturing operations."
