Lakeland Finishing, a supplier to the automotive industry, decided to replace its legacy ERP system, and chose IQMS to help manage raw materials and its manufacturing planning.
Lakeland is a Michigan-based finishing company that adds paints and coatings to component parts destined for automotive OEMs such as Ford, General Motors, and Toyota. Lakeland’s Grand Rapids plant is home to 12 spray booths and three discrete conveyor lines.
According to the IQMS statement, Lakeland encountered a scenario familiar to many growing manufacturing companies: The ERP software that had met its needs for years could no longer keep pace with the changing size and complexion of the business. Lakeland’s parts list and customer roll have both grown recently, leaving the company to manage its raw material needs in an outdated ERP system.
After a software selection process that IQMS said included ERP providers Epicor, Infor, and Plex, Lakeland chose the IQMS ERP system. (To see how the ERP products from IQMS, Epicor, Infor, and Plex compare to each other, click here.)
The manufacturer will use the forecasting capabilities in the ERP system in pursuit of better scheduling and capacity planning, IQMS said. It will also use the ERP software’s electronic data interchange (EDI) module to conduct various business transactions with partner companies.
IQMS noted that Lakeland relied heavily on customer recommendations to make its ERP selection, and touted its experience in the automotive industry as another contributing factor.
