Tatsoft’s FactoryStudio, a Microsoft .NET development platform, now supports a mobile application for the iPad and iPhone that allows manufacturers to access displays, charts, and graphs in their plant monitoring and manufacturing intelligence applications.
Tatsoft, a maker of plant information management and manufacturing intelligence development tools, has released a mobile application for the Apple iPad and iPhone.
The company’s flagship FactoryStudio software suite for Microsoft’s .NET framework provides what the company calls a rapid application development (RAD) platform that facilitates the design of a raft of operational and manufacturing intelligence tools, including process and factory floor automation, performance monitoring, energy management, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) applications. This week, the company announced that FactoryStudio—which is already available on PCs and Internet Explorer Web clients—can now be accessed by Apple iPad and iPhone devices.
The application runs natively on Apple’s iOS operating system, and is fully integrated with the .NET framework, the company said. This allows users to view the same custom displays, trend graphs and charts, and KPIs that are available on PCs and Web clients.
According to Tatsoft, the FactoryStudio software suite is a managed code offering that allows manufactures to create applications for SCADA, plant information management systems (PIMS), historians, and manufacturing intelligence (MI) that feature real-time data displays. The development tools include Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) graphics, secure scripting, event notification and alarming, data archiving, advanced visualization, enhanced security, and a suite of data acquisition protocols that can be integrated with SQL databases, SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, OSIsoft PI, and external corporate applications, according to Tatsoft.
In addition, developers of MI applications can use a cloud-based version of FactoryStudio, which allows a distributed team of engineers and developers to share project configurations and work.
The FactoryStudio App for iPad and iPhone will be available to Tatsoft partners and select end users this fall. General availability via the Apple store will follow.
