New SCM Apps Focus on Goods Movement

Supply chain management software from Management Dynamics and LeanLogistics addresses how and where goods move through the value chain.

Supply chain managers and others involved in supply chain management this week received the news of two new applications meant to help them facilitate how and where goods move in the value chain.

Management Dynamics’ updated Export On-Demand application concerns itself with where goods travel in the supply chain, a key consideration for manufacturers and others who are subject to certain restrictions on where and to whom they can market their products.

Export On-Demand 1.2 features improved embargo and restricted party screening, the supply chain management company said in a statement. It also includes a new module focused on helping supply chain personnel manage export licenses. The module provides access to regulatory control information for more than 100 countries, which helps users glean whether export licenses are needed, according to Management Dynamics.

The updated SCM software also allows users to create a “warning word dictionary.” Whenever those words occur, a transaction is put on hold for investigation. And the software’s restricted party list capabilities have evolved in Export On-Demand 1.2 to allow for automatic rescreening of existing partners when a new restricted list is added to the system.

The software is delivered via the SaaS model and is targeted at small and midsize companies, Management Dynamics said.

On the other side of the supply chain management world, LeanLogistics this week introduced LeanFleet, a software offering aimed at managing the daily planning of the private fleets that transport goods.

The routing and optimization technology “addresses the exponential volume of transportation execution variables in order to determine the best moves for assets,” the company said in a statement.

Also a SaaS offering, LeanFleet gives transportation managers a view into street-level routing, and also offers an automatic consolidation function. The software does so by accounting for constraints among the transportation assets themselves and the contracts that govern them.
