Nordion will be using Pilgrim On-Demand software for document and change management, as well as implementing enterprise-wide best practices around quality compliance and control.

Pilgrim Software, a maker of risk, compliance, and quality management applications, recently announced that Nordion, a specialty health sciences company, will be implementing the on-demand version of its quality management product.

Pilgrim On-Demand is delivered in a hosted private cloud. This model keeps a customer’s intellectual property secure and also allows the customer to integrate the software to existing on-site programs and systems, the company said. Pilgrim On-Demand is said to provide a combination of industry best practices and requires limited configuration and maintenance.

Nordion, a global company, said it will be using the cloud-based system to support its internal quality and regulatory operations through Pilgrim’s document management and change management solutions. According to Pilgrim, the document management function stores, controls, and shares critical documents throughout the organization. The change management solution provides best practices and workflows that enable a company to implement changes in a compliant fashion across sites, with transparency of the information and the documentation to support it.

Nordion also will implement Pilgrim’s packages for non-conformance management, corrective and preventive action (CAPA), and training management, as well as the SmartInsight software, Pilgrim’s ad hoc reporting tool for generating business user-centric compliance and quality management reports.

According to Nordion officials, the company underwent a rigorous software selection process prior to settling on Pilgrim On-Demand. Ultimately, the lower cost of ownership associated with the hosted software and Pilgrim’s strong security and integration capabilities won out.

“Following a review of multiple software providers in the quality and compliance space,” said Jill Chitra, Nordion senior vice president of quality and regulatory affairs, in a statement, “Nordion determined that Pilgrim’s solution platform offers the most comprehensive capabilities that would smoothly integrate with our existing programs and systems.”
