SYSPRO Launches Collaborative ERP for SMB Market

The new Quantum Architecture framework is said to give small and midsize businesses a leg up in the global competitive landscape by embedding IT mapping, data collaboration, workflow models, and real-time notification of business changes in an ERP structure.

ERP supplier SYSPRO recently announced an architectural framework for small and midsize manufacturers that the vendor says will allow an organization to more effectively manage technology and people in the enterprise.

SYSPRO’s Quantum Architecture is a multifaceted framework that, according to the company, goes beyond traditional ERP implementations to include reporting, workflow processes, system security, financial and regulatory change management, and even mobile and cloud requirements that are now emerging in manufacturing environments.

“We are advancing the concept of ERP solutions…to collaborative, real-time management of multiple business, information, and IT assets,” said Brian Stein, CEO of SYSPRO USA, in a statement.

In addition, the architecture addresses the needs of small and midsize businesses (SMBs), particularly manufacturers trying to maneuver in a global market. Most small businesses are just as sophisticated as large ones, Stein said in the statement, “and the margin for error is nonexistent. So, we are not taking our competitors’ approach of ‘streamlining’ or cutting out capabilities to wring out cost, nor are we focused on distracting the market with cloud and mobile deployment conversations—though we have those capabilities, too. We are focusing on really smart, sophisticated solutions that offer better value.”

To that end, the architecture embeds four key components for managing hardware and software, as well as different data sources and processes.

First, a multi-source, single-repository architectural map models the entire technology framework for a holistic “aerial view” of all information assets, including implementation blueprints, role definitions, customization requirements, unique configurations, XML outputs, master data management, and analytical capabilities, for impact and value analysis.

Second, a data collaboration modeling capability provides alignment of both structured and unstructured data used for strategic actions or unique processes, the company said. For example, this lets companies define and analyze the data requirements needed to support their business processes from multiple data sources and multiple companies.

Third, pre-configured, multi-layer process and workflows model all data structures to create patterns of usage, functionality, configuration, and best practices for critical areas like credit checking and pricing.

Last, an embedded, role-based enterprise performance management (EPM) capability reacts to changing metrics, roles, regulatory and financial requirements, or any other business condition faced every day by SMB manufacturers and their distributors. Pre-defined and user-defined metrics can be embedded in the blueprint of the organization to allow for the real-time monitoring of information as well as real-time notifications as the business climate changes, thereby enabling pro-active decision-making, the company said.

The goal of this new framework, SYSPRO says, is to provide SMB manufacturing companies with the benefits of an ERP system without the lengthy installs and escalating technology costs.

“This group of buyers has always been SYSPRO’s sweet spot,” Stein said in the statement, “and this framework will be an invaluable support for small companies as they navigate through all of the complexities, challenges, and opportunities in this changing global market.”
