The new Global Trace and Genealogy software gathers product data from multiple sources into a centralized hub, giving manufacturers a better way to track quality management processes across the supply chain and global enterprise.
In an effort to help manufacturers improve product traceability across the supply chain and global enterprise, manufacturing operations management vendor Apriso has released its Global Trace and Genealogy application. The software is said to collect genealogy data from multiple sources and provide a centralized view into product and packaging processes. It also applies manufacturing intelligence to perform root-cause analysis pertaining to quality management compliance, the company said.
Global Trace and Genealogy, referred to as GTAG, is built on Apriso’s flagship FlexNet platform, a suite of manufacturing operations software that provides a framework for the collaboration of product information residing both inside and outside the corporate walls. The FlexNet platform serves as a track–and-trace “hub” that uses a unified data model to capture information across production, quality, maintenance, and inventory areas, as well as along the supply chain.
According to Apriso, the biggest bottleneck to product traceability initiatives is the proliferation of multiple repositories for product data and quality intelligence, resulting in poor data accuracy that can threaten brand integrity. By capturing of all of that information within a centralized hub, manufacturers have the ability to take corrective actions and perform continuous improvement processes that address both structured and unstructured quality activities, the company said.
Apriso GTAG helps manufacturers improve collaboration with trade partners and coordinate corrective action; handle high volumes of data without impacting operational performance; capture detailed global genealogy data from multiple sources; establish unique product identification schemes that utilize RFID and bar-code scanning technologies; and protect brand integrity by providing product pedigrees to demonstrate authenticity in the face of the escalating challenge of counterfeit products.
“Few enterprise application software providers offer a global repository for product genealogy and traceability data capable of spanning both internal systems and complex supply chain operations,” said Apriso CTO Chris Will in a statement. “Yet this capability is absolutely required to ensure brand protection while minimizing warranty claims; managing Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO); and complying with domestic and international laws required to maintain regulatory compliance. Apriso’s GTAG solution enables these capabilities.”
Apriso’s GTAG software will be offered with industry-focused best practices to offer more capabilities out of the box, the company said. Initial packages will be made available for manufacturers in the high-tech, automotive, aerospace and defense, consumer goods, and other industries.
