Tecnomatix 10 includes 3D simulation, design-to-production collaboration tools, and tight integration between the Teamcenter PLM software and factory floor control systems.
Siemens PLM Software has released a new version of its Tecnomatix digital manufacturing technology. Tecnomatix 10 includes a new user interface, 3D animated work instructions, and a shop floor connection to its Teamcenter product lifecycle management application that, according to the company, provides seamless communication with machine controllers to ensure that data is secure and the manufacturing plan-to-production process is managed.
Tecnomatix 10 is said to have been updated with a number of features that allow manufacturers to synchronize product and process development while optimizing production and quality lifecycle management. To that end, the integration with Siemens’ Teamcenter PLM software provides a single source of product and process data that enables information to be leveraged from design through production, leading to higher quality, less scrap, lower cost, and faster product launches.
Enhanced planning, simulation, and collaboration tools synchronize product development with manufacturing processes before the actual start of production. By reusing previously validated manufacturing data and process knowledge, Tecnomatix 10 can significantly improve manufacturing planning productivity, Siemens said.
In addition, 3D simulation via a simplified user interface and a virtual commissioning feature that can test and debug the virtual production model ensures that manufacturing systems will be designed and installed correctly the first time, saving startup costs.
Enhancements in Tecnomatix 10, including quality measurements throughout the process, address a wide variety of manufacturing engineering disciplines and can increase manufacturing productivity for companies of all sizes, the company said.
“Today’s increasingly competitive global manufacturing industry, combined with the current international economic environment, has companies looking for new and innovative ways to boost productivity, cut costs, and increase quality,” said Ziyon Amram, vice president of digital manufacturing solutions at Siemens PLM, in a statement. “The broad range of enhancements across the entire portfolio of Tecnomatix 10 is aimed at meeting today’s manufacturing challenges.”
