IT services company Mahindra Satyam rolls out a mobile client that lets iPad and iPhone users access the Oracle Agile PLM enterprise application.
Mahindra Satyam, an IT consulting and services provider, has developed a mobile client for Oracle’s product lifecycle management application that is said to provide users with access to product data updates anywhere, anytime, in a secure manner.
The new mobile client for Oracle’s Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) , unveiled at last week’s Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco, is a Web-based service that extends the Agile PLM application to mobile devices. Originally developed for the Apple iPad and iPhone, the company will design similar mobile applications for other tablet devices, per user request.
According to Mahindra Satyam, the consulting firm has been working with Oracle for 14 years, serving more than 50 global Fortune 1000 companies. Over the years, Mahindra Satyam has been charged with designing value-added enterprise solutions for Oracle customers. Now, the new Mobile PLM product, developed by the consulting firm in conjunction with some of its Agile PLM customers, is said to improve the ROI of an existing PLM investment by providing tools that allow for faster decision-making, according to the company.
The Mobile PLM application is built on Oracle’s service-oriented architecture, which Mahindra Satyam used to design a role-specific product with executive dashboards and alerts.
Additional functionality includes an interactive user interface, the ability to view attachments, workflow routings, content-based text search, and single-sign-on capabilities that plug into the existing enterprise application infrastructure.
“Our Mobile PLM solution extends the reach of product data stored in Agile PLM to decision-makers,” said B.K. Kumar, Mahindra Satyam’s senior vice president of Product to Production (P2Pr) Solutions, in a statement, “and will provide our customers with the ability to make faster decisions based on real-time data and business demands.”
