Users of SAP’s Human Capital Management software this week got news of a new bolt-on application billed as a way to cut time from the process of onboarding new employees into the system.
The new-hire process at many companies is drawn-out affair, long on paperwork and short on automation. This week, a company called Exaserv announced a new software offering that aims to bring more efficiency to the process for companies that run SAP’s Human Capital Management software.
The SAP solution partner unveiled Exalerate Onboarding, which works in conjunction with the SAP HCM platform to facilitate the work of human resources personnel, hiring managers, and new employees. The software’s main purpose is to provide a bridge between workforce recruiting software and the central human capital management system.
“Leveraging SAP technology,” Exaserv said in a statement, “new-hire forms and tasks can easily be completed online, routed to the appropriate personnel, and approved. At the same time, hiring managers and human resources have portal access to both monitor and report on the hiring process.”

Employees involved in the hiring process can enter candidate information directly into Exalerate Onboarding or copy it from an e-recruiting system by SAP or another provider. The Exaserv software acts as a task manager, guiding managers through defined procedures for placing a new hire in the HCM system. Those task lists can be customized for various positions within the company that require distinct HCM procedures.
The HCM software features forms and background checks, including the national e-Verify screening system. It also facilitates confirmation alerts showing that a company’s policies and training have been delivered to a new hire. And, at the tail end of the human resources lifecycle, managers can enlist a customizable task organizer to facilitate employee offboarding if someone moves to a new internal position or leaves the company.
